As one of the service provider, I guess it’s not really convincing enough as you may think that I’m not quite in a right position to write on this topic. However, I would like to share my experience and I guess this is the topic most of you are cracking your head when it comes to choosing the right provider.
Where to start? I bet most of us will start with something we’re affordable and within our budgets. There’s nothing wrong with it but one thing we have to make sure is, what’s the range of the cost it suppose to be for a web site or web services that you’re engaging.
In Malaysia, what I came across before was a really attractive range offer by an average freelance designer or a developer who would develop a web site for you if you pay MYR 800 to MYR 1,500. Beside that, an average web company is charging at the range of MYR 1,000 to MYR 2,500 or MYR 3,000 the most. Again, it sounds good too.
However, how many of us know and are able to differentiate what should be delivered from the amount you spend at the later stage? I’ll show you the answer. For the time being, I hope you’ll enjoy your readings….
These are the few things you must be seeing or listening when there’s a professional web services provider’s representative is proposing you a solution.
The Rep., he / she:
1. Has passion towards the web and convincing portfolio.
2. Studies your business model, your industry and more importantly your needs or requirements in web services.
3. Works around your requirements and budgets to come up with a proposal which is scalable and practical. Just to name a few, for example, a) he / she will pick the right requirements that’s can be done effectively within the given budget, without compromising the web site, b) he / she will advise you on what’s suits you and your company the best by providing professional and justifiable points and opinions, c) you’re able to see the big picture of how’s the web site will expand to consolidate with your business and beneficial to you and your company in the long run.
Of course, there’re a lot more. However, I guess if he / she project three of the above professionally, it’s good enough.
