Throughout these years, I’ve been meeting with people from all walks of life. They are my potential customers, business owners, employees, my personal friends, friends’ friends, anybody that I had a quick chit chat during the ciggy break at the smoking areas of office buildings, shopping centre, and etc.
Some holds a very positive about web and the Internet; some holds quite a negative view over it. Almost all of those who have negative views over the web are those company owners who thought by having or putting up a web site will help them generate more revenues, boost the sales and etc. Based on the picture I got from the conversation, most of them have such misconception because they have been told by their service provider or being misled by the information they came across with. Either one, it’s cause that particular individual a very bad experience on the web and the Internet because they felt that have been cheated by paying for the cost to put up the web site that does nothing for them, but left them to maintain a huge cost to so called maintain the domain name and the mail service.
To me, web will be the future. Of course, it will not stop anybody from going out to shop in the luxury and cozy shopping malls, or just to get a dozen of eggs or cheese for tonight’s dinner. It changes how we search, filter and organize the information that will help us to make the right decisions.
What sort of decision could it be for us to search information from the web and allow us to make one right decision? A purchaser who search and buy the right product for the company. A new potential car owner who’s considering on which car should he be buying, by comparing the specification and initial price without having to pay his visit from one car showroom to another. There’re too many examples, thousands of millions of them.
The above mentioned scenarios are viewing the web from a customer’s perspective. What about the supplier, dealers, business owners and etc that we called it a Provider? The demand is there, as a Provider, besides having the right products and right price, I bet you’re still one step away, the step is figure it out on how to tap on the demand. In the web perspective, everybody knows it but not many people know HOW.
As a web service provider, telling you HOW is part of our job. As mentioned in “The initial concept of web design of the 2mediastudio”.
A beautiful or gorgeous web site should be professionally designed; professionally designed simply means:
1. creative, attractive or at least a decent interface or outlook,
2. an effective site navigation that maximize the user friendliness of the site,
3. and an easy-to-understand content that has been frame in a clear and clean content flow that will contribute to its user friendliness.
Nowadays, when search engine came into the picture, we emphasize all web sites must have all of the above mentioned requirements, before we shall proceed to “max-expose” the website via the help of the search engine. Else, it might be just another web site that to be closed by its visitor.
Ahh… again, I almost forgot… the functionalities. Guess that’s the sign of getting older, being forgetful. Well, no worries about the functionalities of the web sites because you may just add in what you need eventually. Functionalities are simply the add-ons that you will put it in during the development of a web site or you may add it in at a later stage. It doesn’t really matter, not that much as what you thought, because a rich-functionality web site that is poorly designed and has a poor navigation may have similar endings, “just another web site that to be closed by its visitor”.
At this point of time, you might be wondering or hunger for the answer to your question, “what would be the result after I have all those of above?” or “How? How do I fix this or what should I do to fix it?”
